You've gotta do extraordinary things

We open tomorrow! Get excited, and get your tickets! We have a lot of magic to do for all of you, and we would love to share this project with you.

Today, we have a special gift for you. One of our talented actors, senior Lily Zahn (Catherine) has agreed to share with us her experience with the show and her character:

"Hey there players! I'm Lily and I play Catherine and I hope you 're all getting excited for the show because we open tomorrow (what?!?)! So the way I got involved with Pippin was a bit of an adventure. As a senior, I've only previously performed in straight plays here. After high school I shied away from musicals to the point that auditioning for one made me super anxious. For my last show at Tufts, I decided to conquer my fear and at least audition for a musical, and to my surprise it worked out pretty great. Catherine is the newest addition to our motley troupe of players and is entrusted with the task of teaching Pippin about the joy and mundanity of an ordinary home life. A flirty little spitfire, she's not afraid of a challenge, whether it's Pippin's stubborn attitude or the Leading Player's unquestioned authority. She's been such a fun character to play and getting back in the swing of a musical has been an exciting way to finish up my Tufts theater experience. Can't wait to share this show with you! See you this weekend!"

Cause you're on the right track

Dear loyal Pippin fans!

Cue-to-cue has been finished! For all of you out there who don't speak "theatre", this aspect of tech gives the designers a chance to work with their light, sound, and scenic cues while jumping through the show. It marks the first interaction between all the elements of a production. While it is often a very stressful and exhausting portion of show week (or hell week, known to those involved), this is the time where most problems are spotted and fixed.



Today also marked the first encounter of the cast, designers, and orchestra in the same venue. The 12 person pit, directed by our musical director freshman Andrew Rogers, accompanies the actors on stage. It has been performing since early February!

Intrigue, plots to bring disaster ...

Greetings from load-in, Pippin fans! Early today, the Pippin family reunited after Spring Break in Cohen Auditorium to get ready for our show.

One by one, set, costumes, lights, and sound elements came together into what will definitely be an amazing show. While the set designer painted backstage, actors got up one by one for mic check as the lighting designers lit the stage in increasingly fantastic ways. Still other people were backstage learning what their hair and make up would look like, or putting a base coat of paint on set pieces.

We all could use a change of scene

On Thursday, March 17th, the cast finally moved into Cohen for their first run in the venue. The Pippin family is stoked to approach load-in (Sunday, March 27th!).

Journey to a spot exciting, mystic, and exotic

In exactly 2 weeks and 11 hours, Pippin's magic will be unleashed at Tufts University's one and only Cohen Auditorium. Serving as the university's largest performance venue, Cohen will shortly witness 11 talented performers captivate the audience with their vocals and Fosse-inspired moves. What more can you want?

Today's insider's sneak-peek takes you to the core of this journey ... the set! Designed by junior Cara Guappone, the Pippin set combines the show's magic, mystery, and depth, while functionally adapting to the Cohen stage. Welcome to Magic To Do: An Insider's View of Torn Ticket II's Major Production of Pippin

On this blog, you will find out everything about Pippin's magic: our production, its rehearsals, and our tech process.

A black comedy, Pippin explores the nature of purpose and life itself.  Pippin, son of Charlemagne, is looking for "something completely fulfilling."  As he explores many different aspects of the world, Pippin's (and the audience's) ideas of what constitutes happiness are challenged. Pippin presents a twisted, yet humorous look at the search for where your bliss lies.

Here you will be able to track our progress as we approach opening night (March 31st). The entire cast and production staff of Pippin are working arduously to get the show ready for you.
